Underwater Sign Language Course (North Sound SeaSigns Session with DiveCanuck)
Have you ever needed to communicate with your dive buddy underwater? Waiting until your surface interval just to communicate can be frustrating. Whether you are having a problem or just want to point out something cool, good communication with your buddy can make the difference between an "okay" dive and a "great" fun and safe dive. Communication alternatives have limitations. There are many forms of underwater communication on the market today, such as specialized gear and slates. Special gear is expensive and cumbersome. Using slates can be awkward and slow. Even the hand signals commonly taught lack an adequate vocabulary to truly communicate effectively. Hand signals also can vary widely between agencies which can create confusion between two divers trained by different agencies. SeaSigns is simple, inexpensive, and of broad scope. SeaSigns offers a simple and inexpensive solution. Based on American Sign Language we have created a special vocabulary for scuba divers that is easy to learn and easy to use. Our vocabulary is much broader in scope than other hand signal methods. Approved by scuba certifying agencies. SeaSigns Safety Signing Diver class has been approved as a specialty course by PADI, SSI, SDI, NAUI, YMCA, NASE and IAHD, recommended by HSA. This makes SeaSigns the most popular and widely used underwater communications system in the industry. Why take the class? Take the class to learn all signs correctly from a trained instructor. Receive a BC tag which identifies you as a certified SeaSigner. Possibly meet people with whom you can sign while diving. Class is fun, easy, and can be taken almost any time. People comment how fun and easy the class is. The classroom part of the Safety Signing Diver class requires about 4 hours classroom and pool time to learn all 110 signs.

The South Everett Wednesday Meetup for February
Rei = Spiritual wisdom (upper character) Ki = Life energy (lower character) Reiki is an ancient system of healing that is understood to mean ?"Universal Life Force.?" Reiki improves most health conditions including stress relief, heart conditions, chronic fatigue, tension, cancer, ulcers, back issues?-the list is endless. Reiki eliminates pain, calms the nervous system and lowers blood pressure. Reiki begins healing at the root of the issue and energizes and rejuvenates the body/mind/soul, increasing awareness and intuition. Reiki can bring into balance what is out of balance and is an excellent tool for balancing Chakra energy. Because it starts at the root of an issue, the physical symptoms that brought the person in may not be immediately alleviated. But as Reiki balances the root cause, the person will be left with far more benefits than the healing of the physical symptoms alone. Reiki is administered by the laying on of hands. Similar techniques have been practiced for thousands of years. Reiki is a very simple yet powerful technique that can be easily learned by anyone. Reiki has grown exponentially in awareness and popularity in recent years. On Wednesday, January 6, Dr. Oz acclaimed Reiki on his television talk show. Do Oz has allowed Reiki to be shared during open heart surgeries: http://healthcare-research.suite101.com/article.cfm/reiki_in_hospitals Come to the February Reiki Meetup and learn more about Reiki, or practice and share Reiki with other practitioners. I begin each meetup with a meditation written by me for the current month. Then we set up the massage table and share group Reiki. There are always Reiki articles and handouts available, delicious snacks and a safe and loving atmosphere. Hope to see you at one of our upcoming Reiki Meetups. Love & Light: Kriss

Comedians Geoff Lott, Toby Roberts & Carol Maki
Geoff Lott...Born and raised near Seattle, WA his act contains a sunny perspective with a chance of rain. With humor that is opinionated and broadly appealing, Geoff is most often referred to as a funny, smart, comedian who can deliver the goods on any topic. He works clean, he works mature, he works for anybody with a sense of humor. Geoffs act is less offensive than your average newscast, and hell make you laugh at comedy from above the belt.
Geoff Lott is a performer of comedic outlook and blunt self-deprecation. After first getting on a comedy club stage in 2001, Geoff found that comedy is the only way that he can legally express all of his true feelings in public setting without a blowtorch and a hug. He has earned many accolades from crowds and comics, and is often mentioned as one of the funniest, most professional comics in the scene.

With an easy, conversational delivery, Geoff is constantly connected to his witty, uncommon ideas on sanity, religion, love, food, and self-enlightenment. An avid writer since he was young, Geoffs constant writing and performing guarantees a unique show each time he takes the stage. In a forum where comedy can be used for anything, Geoff Lotts using it to open minds, doors, and mental windows. Stop looking outside, come out and play! With material ranging from the painfully honest to the joyfully absurd, Geoff lives and writes by the motto Don't get mad, get funny.

Toby Roberts will feature for Geoff and Carol Maki will host.

Everett Massachusetts was settled in 1630 and incorporated as a city in 1892. Everett is a blue collar working class community that has served as a gateway city to immigrants for most of its history. The city has a large and diversified industrial and commercial base and offers many services along with a sizeable retail trade.

Everett is a small city of only 3.5 square miles but is able to provide a high level of education and public services to its citizens at a moderate tax rate. The city boasts a convenient location abutting Boston on the Mystic River. It is close to major highways and is easily accessible by public transportation. Logan International Airport is only 15 short minutes away!

Everett has maintained an “A” bond rating even during the most difficult economic times of recent years and its industry contributes significantly to the economic well being of Massachusetts because its many companies continue to produce and service products which are in use world wide.
